ACT is one more year old or one more year younger at heart. With so much happening in 2004 worldwide, some of us has realized that we are still very young in the process of self-purification. The means for it is by way of one positive act a day.
2004 , the year was very active for ACT, Ammucare as well, with so much positive acts happening at various levels.
The foundation stone for the First ever ACT Village was laid in a tiny village in Kerala, India on Nov 9th. This was a day of remembrance for all ACT Family members. Great achievement indeed, is n't it? From Oct 25, 2003, the day Ammucare was officially registered in India as a charitable trust, in a year's time we managed it. God is great.
In terms of support to those less fortunate and needy people around us, Ammucare is still supporting the Kidney-transplant case in Kerala. This is the first case that came to us and the patient is still under medication for which ACT is helping the family. Little girl Manisha from Uttaranchal state, North India, who had to undergo surgery, we were able to meet a part of the cost for the operation. Leukemia patients in India and Sri Lanka were supported with funds for their treatments. One year old girl Gungun from North India, with a Blood clot in her brain, fully recovered with only medical treatment, supported by Ammucare. The training provided to the poor women in Gajja helped them to produce greeting cards [Unique, hand-made, eco-friendly] and these are being marketed by ACT and proceeds go to them. ACT Tamilnadu was launched on 23 Aug. 2004. Since then, the various activities the team in Chennai [Madras] is doing started with the distribution of Tamil Software Applications (TSA) CDs to Corporation School students, followed by dental camps, visits to Oldage Homes, workshops on spoken English, projects for physically challenged students and motivational workshops being held on an on-going basis. ACT Mumbai and Kerala chapters with new co-ordinators are already planning lot of support acts, thus strengthening our Vision. ACT New Delhi chapter had distributed the winter clothes and the team is now preparing for the next round of visits to the orphanages there.
