Serving hygienic and quality food has been one of the main focuses of Annadaan in each location. The Jammu Team provided 300 full course thali meals with rava kesari as a little sweet treat for the children cancer patients.
Delhi and Bangalore Teams included either bananas or salads as healthy add ons in the 610 and 572 food boxes distributed by them respectively. A lot of the Delhi meals were cooked by the Livelihood Project Team and Dry rations sufficient for 6000 meals were also distributed to the underprivileged in Delhi.
In Kolkata, on one hand cooked food was served to 80 people outside a government hospital and on the other hand, dry ration kits were given to transgenders, enough for 600 meals.
The Maharashtra Team as part of their initiative ‘Amma’s Kitchen’ served fresh cooked food to 1150 villagers, as well as slum and street dwellers with the help of ‘Youth of Today Welfare Foundation’ volunteers. 45 dogs are regularly being fed too.
The Hyderabad Team, who reached out to 290 people, in some localities offered buttermilk along with biscuits as a perfect thirst quencher in the summer heat and added sweets to the rice meal packets given in other localities. The seasonal favourite Mango along with laddus were the sweet inclusions in the 100 meals offered in Haridwar.
The Tiruvannamalai volunteers served rice meals to 330 Sadhus. The Noida Team served freshly cooked Biryani and appeased 50 people in an industrial area.
