Kumbh Mela started in Haridwar on 14th Apr and will end on 27th April ( Chaitra Purnima). Kumbh Mela is a major Hindu festival and pilgrimage which is celebrated in a cycle of 12 years at four holy river-banks: Prayagraj (Ganges-Yamuna Sarasvati rivers confluence), Haridwar (Ganges), Nashik (Godavari), and Ujjain (Shipra). It is an extravaganza that draws millions of devotees from India and around the world, and is the world’s largest pilgrimage and religious gathering for Hindus.
The practice of Daan during Kumbh holds great significance. Here, both the donator and the receiver of alms are benefitted. Therefore, donation during Kumbh is considered greater than relinquishment. Annadaan (donating food) Vastra Daan (donating of clothes) has immense significance.
